So I'm back from my brief hiatus now! Had a pretty good week, and I just barely got back from the festival of colors today (I'm still waiting for Dee to get out of the shower so I can bathe!) so while I wind down and let my KFC digest, I'm just going to write up a little update journal. Dee and I went with Chaia and Mike, and I only wish I could've taken more pictures! But unfortunately because everyone was busy throwing colored chalk at each other it was somewhat difficult. Basically the festival was at the Lotus Temple here in Utah, which is a Hindu temple and I'm hoping to get to visit it sometime outside of the festival if they allow people who aren't Hindu inside. The event was meant to celebrate peace and love, and symbolized change in the seasons and in ourselves. So it was a pretty amazing event. We went very early because usually about 10,000 or so people show up throughout the day, which is...a bit too overwhelming for me! But lots of fun still!
I've been spending most of this week just winding down, reconnecting with myself and my goals, and spending a lot of time with Dee. Last night we just chilled in the hot tub and spent a long time discussing our books and trying to work out times that we can both sit down and just focus on writing and drawing and stuff. We finally got Dee's workspace looking really good, and I got a new HP Touchsmart desktop computer. I should be able to draw directly onto the screen like a cintiq, I'm just waiting to get a screen protector so I don't destroy it by mistake!
So yeah, things were a bit bumpy for a little bit and I had a lot of doubts in myself and in where my life/relationships were going. And I'm still uncertain about a lot of things, but I'm learning to just sort of embrace all the great things in my life and to let go of the negativity and bad stuff. I'm starting to learn a lot about myself and the things I need to work on, but I'm not going to allow myself to get discouraged even when bad stuff happens!
Anyway, here are some pictures from the festival. If you're ever in Utah around this time of year, check out the event. It's getting pretty huge and I just love it!
I haven't had much access to computers the last couple of days, so I haven't been able to draw much. I feel bad because I've let myself fall behind with commissions (I know the most anyone has had to wait is a month, and most people haven't had to wait even that long) but I want to be timely in turning out artwork. I feel like the break I've taken is very needed, so I'm ready to jump back in and produce some amazing works of art. Fortunately I have been sketching a lot, so that helps me ease back into things!
